Shahrukh Khan was born on November 2, 1965. He is today a prominent figure in the Indian film industry. He is a film producer as well as a TV host. He started his career with different TV serials in 1980. His initial film debut was Deewana in 1992. After the super success of this film Shah Rukh khan was integrated in numerous commercial films which were blockbusters of the era. He has proudly earned innumerable critical acclaims for his outstanding performances.
Shah Rukh Khan has received thirteen Filmfare awards of which 7 were grandly offered to him for his selection in the Best actor nomination. He has grandly established himself as the leading actors of the Indian cinema. The government of India has offered him the prestigious Padma Shri for his immense contribution in Indian Cinema in 2005. In 2007, Madame Tussauds installed his wax statue in London which is life sized. In the same year, his statue was installed in Muśee Grévin in Paris for his exceptional career. French Government graciously accorded him the Orde des Arts et des Lettres which means Order of the Arts and Literature in same year. Shah Rukh Khan’s statue was also installed in New York and Hong Kong.
Moreover, in 2008, he was honored the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka which is similar to Sir in knighthood of British by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tum Mohd Khaalil Yaakob, head of Malacca’s state in Malaysia. He was also honored for highly promoting tourism in same state for filming One Two Ka Four in 2001 there. Britain’s University of Bedfordshire honored him with an honorary doctorate in arts and culture in 2009.
He is founder and owner of the two prime companies; Dreamz Unlimited and Red Chillies Entertainment. In the present era, he is undoubtedly considered as the most successful star of the globe. The number of his fans is uncountable crossing over billions and net worth is highly estimated to be surpassing over rupees 2500 crore. He was named by Newsweek in 2008, as one amongst the 50 most powerful people worldwide.
Shah Rukh Khan attended St. Columbia’s school in New Delhi, India, were he was truly accomplished in all the trio fields of sports, drama and academics. He was awarded the Sword of Honour since he was selected as the best student representing the spirit of the school. He later joined Hansraj College in 1985 where he completed his bachelor’s degree in economics in 1988. Although he pursued his further studies in the Master’s Degree of Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but he opted to make his true career in the Bollywood.
He studied acting under the guidance of the efficient theatre director Barry John at Delhi’s Theatre Action Group. Khan his made first acting debut in the television series Fauji where he played the role of Commando Abhimanyu Rai. Later he appeared in many television series like Circus by Aziz Mirza which presented the life of the circus performers. In same year, he had minor role in the English language made for television film which was named In Which Anne Gives It Those Ones written by Arundhati Roy. It was based on the life at Delhi University.
Shah Rukh Khan moved from Delhi to Mumbai in 1991 and he made his first debut in Indian Cinema in 1992 in film Deewana. This film became a box-office hit and he won the Filmfare award for the Best Male Debut.
Shah Rukh khan has played in innumerable films from Deewana to Idiot, Chamatkar, Raju Ban Gaye Gentleman and Dil Aashna Hai in 1992 to Maya Memsaab, King Uncle in 1993. In the same year he was acclaimed for his villainous roles in the films Darr and Bazigaar and he won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na. He played in Anjaam in 1994 where he won Filmfare Best Villian Award. In 1995, he acted in spectacular films like Karan Arjun, Zamana Deewana, Guddu, Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India!, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Raam Jaane and Trimurti of which Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge won him his second Filmfare Best Actor Award.
In 1996, he played in English Babu Desi Mem, Chaahat, Army, Dushman Duniya Ka which was a little disappointing year for him. But in 2007 he had marvelous movies like Pardes, Yes Boss and Dil To Pagal Hai. In 1998 he starred in Koch Kuch Hota Hai which was biggest hit of the year. Khan’s success continued further in the year 2000 with Mohabbatein for which he received the Critics Award for Best Performance.
In the same year he established his first production house Dreamz Unlimited with actress Juhi Chawla. They both starred in their first movie of their production house Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. In 2002, he got immense acclaim for his role in Devdas. In the same year he played in Kal Ho Na Ho which was not only a super hit film in India but also one of the Bollywood’s biggest hit in the overseas market.
In 2004 he starred in comedy movie Main Hoon Na which did very well at box office. In same year he played a memorable role in Veer-Zaara which was biggest hit in India and overseas. Shah Rukh Khan’s success continued with his few more popular movies. One of his popular works was Chak De India which was not only got multiple awards but also earned over 639 million rupees and in addition was another Filmfare Best Actor Award for him. His recent super hit was My Name is Khan. His upcoming movies in 2011 are Koochie Koochie Hota Hain, R.A. one, and Don-2 The Chase Continues.
Shah Rukh Khan was producer of many films from Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani in 2000 to Asoka in 2000, Chalte Chalte in 2003, Main Hoon Na in 2004, Kaal and Paheli in 2005, Om Shanti Om in 2007, Billu in 2009 and eventually Ra. One which is due to be released in 2011. He was also playback singer in 5 of his films, Baadshah (1999), Josh (2000), Don-The Chase Begins Again (2006) and Chake De India (2007). He was an outstanding stunts director in five of his films namely Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Main Hoon Na (2004), Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (2006), Chak De India and Om Shanti Om in 2007.
